A Court of Mist and Fury review

A court Of Mist and Fury, the second book in the A Court of Thorns and Roses. The book is a continuation and picks up after the events that occurred under the mountain. Feyre is now Fae she has been resurrected from the dead and is back at Spring court when things start to change. Plot- essentially the plot was a complete change from the first book in that Feyre is about to get married to Tamlin when she discovers she cannot go through with it and Rhysand comes to save her. Without knowing it Feyre becomes closer to Rhysand and starts realising that what she thought was love was not entirely that, and the dynamic of the entire plot is shifted to focus on Feyre and Rhysand. Character development- Feyre's development is quite remarkable after book 1 she's back at the spring court however she's different, she's broken, dark and haunted. she craves freedom and instead, she's being forced to be a trophy for Tamlin, once leaving with Rhysand she truly embraces her powers, her strength, and abilities, she finds a place at Night Court and not only does she find people who support her, train her, let her make her own choices she finds a home, a family. she becomes so powerful and badass it's surreal. Rhysand- the biggest character development was for Rhysand as he's always been shown to be the big bad villain, and in this book, we get to see that carefree side of him when he's with his family, the loving compassionate side, his vulnerable side, his immense loyalty to his people, the drive to protect Velaris at any cost and his relationship with Feyre. Tamlin- the change in Tamlin's character was not a big surprise as he hadn't done much to protect Feyre in the first book than to send her away and as she went through the trials Rhysand was the one that kept her sane and not let her break and helped her. Cassian, Morrigan, Azriel and Amren- Rhysand's inner circle, it was great to see their characters develop and how protective they all became of Feyre how they became her family the group in itself is a family and it was nice to see how over the years Cassian, Morrigan and Azriel have grown despite their history and longing for each other, their loyalty to one another is unbreakable. Writing- The thing I loved so much about this book was learning about the history of the Night Court, Rhys's history, how Velaris became to be, learning about the Faerie Traditions and cruelty. learning about Morrigan, Azriel, Cassian, and Amren. The complicated relationship between Rhysand and his inner circle and how it came to be and learning Tamlin's truth and his difference's with Rhysand. The whole book answered a lot of questions from the first book, like explaining each character and their role and their powers. Sarah J Maas is brilliant at making you fall in love with her Female characters she writes some of the strongest badass females ever whether it's Mor with her Immense power or Nesta with her strong iron will. The writing was so well done and I was instantly sucked into the story making it hard to put the book down. Overall- I loved the book and cannot wait for the 3rd one as I'm thoroughly excited to see what is going to happen. my only issue was with the relationship between Feyre and Lucien's relationship now being strained and with the events at the end of the book their friendship looks to be in danger of falling apart as Lucien is loyal to Tamlin despite him being wrong. I'm hoping the 3rd book will cover these issues and some other minor ones.

A Court of Thorns and Roses review

Summary- When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world. 

Character Development:
•Feyre- is a unique character who is bound by a deathbed promise she made to her mother, to protect her family despite only being fourteen the first time she went into the woods to hunt for food. She’s very driven and always put everyone else’s needs before her own. But once she’s taken to The Spring Court you start to see her come into her stuff start to put herself before others and knowing that her family is taken care of enjoying things in life she didn’t think she could have like painting and freedom. However, when she realises her love for Tamlin she returns to save him from this wicked faerie Queen Amarantha and she’s such a strong badass character towards the end you see her become this person so driven by compassion and love and hell-bent on saving her lover and his court. Towards the end, she’s literally a whole new person.
•Lucien- though not as talked about but he was one of my favourite characters, I feel like he doesn’t get enough credit. Lucien is loyal and would do anything for Tamlin and the chemistry between him and Feyre is so beautiful how they develop a friendship how she becomes comfortable around him it’s so nice to see 
•Tamlin- is a protector, it’s his instinct to protect his people, he’s this High Fae with the weight of the world on his shoulders and it’s the classic retelling of Beauty and the Beast where he is brooding and trying to impress the girl to break a curse and him and Feyre’s relationship is like of Belle and the Beast, to begin with 
-Rhysand- My absolute Favourite character development from the first time i read about him to him becoming Feyre's guardian angel I loved every moment. 

Writing and plot- Sarah J. Mass is a wonderful author. Her writing is done in a way that makes you fall in love with the characters she wants and hate the ones she wants you to hate and that is an excellent skill in an author to do so, I love how Feyre is so badass, and Sarah J. Mass is not shy to write gruesome scenes. In this book the plot stayed true to the Beauty and Beast plotline, the romance of it, I liked the romance between Tamlin and Feyre, is was interesting to see their relationship evolve and that to die for attitude Feyre has towards the end that she will save Tamlin or die trying.

Overall- I loved this book, and found it very interesting and love the whole fairy folklore theme fused with the beauty and the beast theme I thought it was very well done and Sarah J. Mass created an amazing world with fabulous characters.

Empire Of Storms Review

Plot/Storyline- the events of this book take place after Queen Of Shadows where Aelin is trying to get to Terrasan and reclaim her throne but of course there are many many obstacles in the way of it and seeing her rise to the occasion and defeating those odds as a queen and not an assassin is somewhat new, seeing her trying to handle her court and the lords of Terrasan locking her out of her own city and the fallout of that is very intriguing. 
Character development- 
Aelin- despite having finally accepted her role as Queen you still see a hint of Celaena in Aelin with is great you see her true to her nature, you see it in her actions the secrets she keeps even from her court you see it in her emotions and it's good to see that's she isn't this unrecognisable person you've grown to love over the series. She's the perfect Queen who is a badass and doesn't take cr*p from anyone she does what is best for her and for the people she loves and the home she's trying to reclaim. There was a point in the book where Aelin is on the verge of losing Dorian because of her overpowering nature and she feels the need to protect him but still listens to what he says because she values her friendship with him. 
Rowan- Still love his relationship with Aelin and the rest of the court and his devotion to her is and her cause is great and his relationship I feel is tested in a sense when his 'cadre' shows up. 
Aedion & Lysandra- this book you see Aedion kind of questioning Aelin's authority, not in a threatening sense but he feels left out when Aelin makes plans without telling him since he's supposed to be protecting her. His relationship with Lysandra was moving seeing them grow and develop this attraction was natural and I loved seeing that. Lysandra and Aelin's friendship was at it's strongest in this book and seeing Aelin trust Lysandra fully was touching. 
Dorian and Manon- Dorian now without a crown and broken was hard to read, but seeing him and Manon together was such a nice thing that he was finally able to start mending himself. His relationship with Aelin is complicated they're friends but Aelin is more overpowering and Dorians kind of in her shadow despite being a king he does what she says. seeing Manon fight her grandmother and rebel against authority and question her upbringing was a wonderful because the past books have been leading to the moment where she takes a stand and isn't just her Grandmothers puppet anymore. 
Elide and Lorcan- They were in Queen of Shadows but this book is where their characters really developed, they found this comfort in each other and Lorcan going from a stone cold B*stard to really care about Elide was great to see despite his 'love' for Maeve and his hatred for Aelin. Elide going from this weak timid servant to this bold and clever woman was inspiring how despite her flaws and past she was determined to find Aelin and help her no matter what, using her mind and that sharpness to survive against all odds.
Cadre- seeing Rowan's old buddies come back was so great that Aedion finally got the chance to meet his father Gavriel and see where he comes from and get the chance to tell him how he feels, since his only family is Aelin having his father though Aedion doesn't care for him is a positive thing for him and getting his fathers help to save his beloved cousin will be great to see. Fenrys character is very outspoken with his feelings, seeing his hatred for Maeve just shows the kind of person he is and that he is able to tell right from wrong and the way he looked up to Aelin and how she inspired him was great to see, that he was willing to go against Maeve for her.

Writing- Sarah J Maas has a unique style of writing which I love and this book is finally where all the plot lines band together and everyone is finally reunited in a sense. when the Manon plot was introduced it felt like a completely different story and it didn't really relate to what was going on elsewhere but in this book, you'll find the stories really intertwine and they always have and the past books have been building up to this moment.

Queen Of Shadows Review

Plot/ Storyline- the book picks up right after Heir of fire and Celaena has finally accepted who she is and what she has to do to rebuild her court and fulfill her vow to Nehemia. she's back in Rifthold but she's back as Celaena and not Aelin, to begin with. Character development and addition- Celaena/Aelin- she is still one of my favorite characters, I find her so empowering and feel that her character is finally accepting their fate she's in no mood for bullsh*t and I feel that her bravery sets an example for her court yet she's still humanised in this book you see her relationship with Aedion and the pain of losing all those years with him. Chaol- Honestly he was starting to annoy me in Heir of Fire but in this book the beginning especially he really p*ssed me off I didn't like his character at all but over the course of the book, I somewhat started to warm up to him. the thing that annoyed me most was him blaming Aelin for what happened to Dorian as a way to not face his own cowardice. Dorian - he was quite broken in this book, and towards the end, he was shattered and having Aelin back to save him and Chaol risking everything for him finally pulled him out of the darkness he was in. Rowan- I truly loved Rowan and his love and support for Aelin are truly wonderful the other thing I loved was his relationship with Aedion, the Bromance was real and I enjoyed every bit of it. Aedion- I have always loved Aedion ever since his character was introduced I love his devotion to his family and court and Aelin most of all despite not knowing her he loves and supports her 100% and never judges her for her past. The best part about Aedion is having him gives Aelin the family she never had and seeing them together is so heart warming how if anything happened to him she'd burn the world for spite. seeing her have that love for her blood is such a touching thing Lysandra- was a wonderful addition seeing Aelin's old enemy become part of her small family was truly amazing and I completely support their Friendship I am all for girl power and they're both so powerful in their own way. Manon- her character development was my favorite she's supposed to be his ice cold killer without a soul but you see her develop into her own person questioning authority and her relationship with Elide was remarkable seeing her care about someone who meant nothing to her, risking her life to save Elide was what set Manon over the edge to the good side. Writing- Sarah J Maas is amazing at how she writes perspectives in her stories, like in each chapter there's not one set perspective from one person you get a bird's eye view of the situation from multiple characters and it's all woven in and it makes for such an interesting read.

Heir of Fire review

Plot/ Storyline- this book picks up right after crown of midnight where Celaena was sent to Wendlyn to assassinate the royal family but ends up training to control her powers and shift so she can enter Fae lands and get answers from her aunt Maeve Queen of the Fae

Character development-Celaena- the biggest change in Celaena is shown in this book where she finally embraces the darkness and comes out accepting her fate and destiny she goes to Wendlyn as Celaena but returns as Aelin, she returns as queen with the intent of fulfilling her promise to restore her court and kingdom and destroy the king of Adarlan 
Chaol- honestly his character has become so annoying I found it hard to like him in this book and just the way he sees things, refusing change and accepting Celaena as Aelin and Dorian's magic it was irritating. 
Dorian- I love where his storyline was headed in this book, how he was moving on from Celaena but I didn't like his relationship with the healer girl Sorscha it annoyed me. 
Aedion- I loved his character it was one of my favorites, his love for his queen and kingdom the sacrifices he made were similar of Celaena and admirable 
Manon- this was another character introduced and I liked her character and how from a vicious killer she a ruthless witch that claims to have no heart or soul starts to care about her Wyvern and you get to this another layer being peeled away to reveal her for who she really is. 
Rowan- I felt like rowan and Celaena's relationship was the same as her's and Chaol's where they meet they don't like each other, they're testing the waters and then they become friends and Celaena then finds that she needs him for support as such, she needed chaol after Endovier and after her break up with Chaol it seemed she needed Rowan, although I did like them together more than Celaena and Chaol 

Writing- there were points in this book that dragged on for so long and it got a bit annoying I sometimes felt the book was longer than it needed to be and the writing style the way the story point of view changes depending on who's in the scene, and what perspective you're looking at. the writing, however, painted such a descriptive picture when it comes writing about the lands and characters themselves.

Crown of Midnight review

Plot/ Storyline- this is the second book in the throne of glass series and it continues right where the first one left off, we see Celaena as her badass assassin self- as she's the king's champion and is doing his dirty work, this book is darker and more mysterious than the first one, however, we find that where Celaena was supposed to be assassinating the king's enemies she's helping them escape. character development- Celaena- her development during this book was so amazing, she's finally happy for a brief moment with chaol and then he's taken and you see the true wrath of Celaena and you get a glimpse of her Assassin side, the killer that's hiding in the shadows, but when Nehemia dies, and Celaena is running back to the castle finding her friend dead, she snaps and seeing her truly fall over the edge and watch the darkness consume her she becomes the vicious monster everyone's so afraid of and it's so devastatingly pleasing to see that side of her. Chaol- seeing his development from that closed up Captain of the guard to this loving warm person and his closeness with Celaena was great even though I don't really ship them two. Dorian- had a lot going on in this book, realizing he has magic and trying to keep that under control because he's afraid of what his father might do it was hard to see him going through so many changes emotionally. Writing- the writing was brilliant, the way Celaena was portrayed even though she's a hero it shows that she has a dark lethal side and she's tainted, she's not a pure soldier with a heart of gold and its always so nice to see a change from the typical hero's also this book showed a lot about Celaena's past, that she is part Fae and that she is the lost Princess of Terrasan and the Hier to the throne, though this wasn't as big of a shock to me as I figured it out early on, there were so many clues throughout but the thing that did surprise me was Nehemia's death which still makes me sad.

Throne Of Glass review

Plot/storyline- Throne of glass is a story about a young assassin who is imprisoned by the king but has a chance to earn back her freedom by competing in the king's competition to become his champion after 4 years of service she will be free. Things start to change when her competitors start winding up dead and she has to find and eliminate the evil from the castle as well as win the competition. Characters- Celaena- is such a strong, independent character, she is only 17 when imprisoned at such a young age she became one of the biggest threats to the king and Adarlan's greatest assassin. she's an absolutely loveable character so powerful and a complete badass who is so witty you can't help but love her Dorian- The crown prince of Adarlan is such a snobby, sarcastic guy that you just love especially his banter with Celaena which is hilarious, though he is scared of his father and is not as outspoken as she is. Chaol- the Captain of the Guard, he's hard on the outside but once the story develops you see a softer side to him. You see his loyalty towards his best friend and Prince. Nehemia- The Princess from Ellywe who befriends Celaena and they become best friends, realizing that they have a lot in common as in they're both complete badass and that Nehemia is not afraid to speak her mind, she can be hard to like at first, however, you can see her friendship with Celaena is true. Writing- Sarah J Maas is such a wonderful writer and the characters she writes are always so bold and badass especially the females, she is amazing at creating such amazing worlds that keep to enticed and wanting to know more and the storyline is so well thought out
